Well, the signal issues are most likely hardware design issues that cannot be fixed via software updates. Same goes for the camera. There may be ways to optimize the hardware via software updates but that will not completely resolve the issues. To that end the Xperia is in a better position for me. The 2.1 update will be out soon enough and I really am not concerned with MT. I don't play games on my phone much and the ones I do play do not require MT or even any serious GPU power.

well im just kidding about cruelty and coldness of a woman , thats my intention, to mark the changes can be made in a person who are in love with some person or thing .... but i dont think womens are cold,,,, in my country its the men who are bashed with that men are all the same , cortados por la misma tijera.... so what do you think now about x10 and captative wich wins? x10 still fighting even with 1.6 isnt that amazing?

That's a nice problem to have, having to choose between two very good devices. At&t wasn't getting any high end phones, excepting the iPhone for a while there.lol what country are you from???

Interesting reading through this thread. Frankly, I found the camera in this phone to be excellent. Also, the big, clear screen is great.
However, the rest of the phone is just downright primitive compared to others that cost about the same. The navigation is crude, the phone lags and the overall package is buggy (on the AT&T version, at least -- no, I don't want to configure Timescape, but thanks for asking me about a dozen times). Furthermore, the speaker is tinny and the sound is inferior even on headphones. And then there's that mess of a keyboard which contains enough glitches to make one want to toss this phone out the nearest window...
You Droid fans should be angry about this phone, actually. This thing is being marketed like crazy by AT&T and comes across as completely out of date when compared to the iPhone 4 and the Blackberry Torch. In short, it's making the whole Droid platform look bad.

whaaaaaaat? primitive.... browsing ? lagg? wich phone do you have? here in Mexico x10 doesn't have those problem its fast and powerful I like humans we are different that's why there are different things that suit our needs honestly posted

Wow...took me the longest time to realize this...but I never knew the Captivate in USA = Galaxy S here in Canada LOL
but ya, Captivate should be a good phone, and I also heard that they have like 5 or more names for the Galaxy S in the States...way to confuse people! But then with AT&T not allowing installation of 3rd party apps, i really feel for our neighbours cuz it just...takes away from the whole Android experience.

Honestly, I don't think it's going to cause any confusion...
Each phone kind of looks different from the others
for instance, this guy was playing with my captivate and he was like this is like my vibrant
I was like it's the same phone haha just designed differently lol
It is really unique how they did it, i think

It's funny how I have two AT&T X10s in my house and neither of them have lag. No real bugs to speak of either. I have no complaints on sound quality either. It sounds to me like you just don't like Android. Also, the Torch is crap for sure. The guy I work with at my local Corp store couldn't even get the device to work with his gmail at all. The phone kept crashing and he had to start over. I haven't seen him in a while so I don't know whether he ever did get it working. Either way, one of the most unimpressive "state of the art" devices ever created by RIM (right after the Storm/Storm2). There is no comparison at all to any Android phone or iPhone with the Torch.
I agree, absolutely no problems with mine.
I am definitely a BB fan and really appreciate it's efficiency and ease of use but the Torch/9800, is too little too late imho.
lol ya took me awhile, but i never researched about it and didn't care for the Galaxy S so I didn't know =P
but I actually think the different names are confusing. It's like having the iPhone called mePhone, iPhone, uPhone, wePhone, usPhone, themPhone, myselfPhone, etc. but all meaning the same phone in different variation. It gets annoying after awhile to research for all of them lol.
The Torch might be complete crap. It looked pretty good in the store demo, but then so did the Xperia. Unfortunately (as I've learned), you really can't tell how good -- or bad -- a phone is until you take it home and try to do something useful with it.
I have no problem with Android. In fact, I went to that platform in hopes of avoiding having to deal with iTunes. Turns out that was a foolish notion. Thank God the store I got this from has a 30-day return policy -- my iPhone 4 is on backorder. It can't get here soon enough.
Honestly, I'm amazed anyone who's used any high-end phone before regards the X10 as anything but outdated and problematic. To each his own, however...

I'm not saying you have a problem with Android, you just don't like it. Most of what you are complaining about is related to Android more than this particular device.
I have owned a handful of Android devices and this one is definitely the best IMO. I even tried the Captivate and it may have a better GPU and a beautiful screen but it was by far the buggiest Android device I've ever used. So, for me, the X10 is better than the Captivate.
The point is that I know what to expect from Android and I know that it works just fine for me. I have also owned three iPhones and I'm completely over that whole mess. iTunes is a big factor but there are many others. I just can't support such a controlled and closed system.
i value your opinion...so re MT...forgetting about games..which i dont play..but i must ask...do you ever browse? or use google maps?
While waiting for my dilemma to be resolved i have been playing around with various other androids i.e. desire or the samsung galaxy s...and if i want to enlarge the browsing screen i can either tap once to zoom in or twice to zoom out...or i can do the whole pinching my fingers thing..to effortlessly and quickly do the function i need.
whereas...while using my x10..which honestly right now is near impossible due to crashing during google maps use..but lets go back to when i first got it...and it worked..i would to zoom...have to (while driving a car) have to try and hit a little teency weensy little magnifying glass..not mention if i did not hit it enough...or hit it too much...would have to wait for the screen to finish drawing...then start process all over.
do you really see MT as just a games thing?
I see mt as a way to browse and to use apps like google maps and get done what you want in like...i dont know? 3 seconds...vs a half minute with the x10?
Hi, i don't know if in here or another thread...or even by pm...you can add a thorough review of the captivate. I am so tired of my x10 lemon i got and afraid and tentative of getting one as a replacement, the captivate will be available this mth here in canada and i with your experience trying new things, i would appreciate your insight..good and bad.lol what country are you from???
