Accessories Case Mate or Gel?

I was wondering about everyone's opinions on the two cases.

I have been using the Case Mate Barely There case which is very good at protecting the main body of the phone at the back. However at the top and bottom, the phone is not covered by this case. Would a gel case be better to protect more of the phone? And would the gel case be as good as the Case Mate Barely There at protecting the areas that are covered?

I have a barely there and a gel case. Obviously the gell case protects more area and is not any worse than the barely there where the barely there covers.

I found the gel case cumbersome and my desire got very hot. I greatly prefer the case mate

If you decide not to go for the Casemate, I would recommend a TPU case over a gel one. It's bit more expensive but it feels better and doesn't attract dust

I haven't had any experience of Barely There cases but ordered a gel-like one and I'm very pleased with it. It feel protective, on my Desire 'S' and makes it much easier to grip the phone. It can be easily removed to give it a wipe with a damp cloth.
I could order and try a Barely There case but don't want to spend nearly
