Case recommendations for heat dissipation for Sony Z

I kind of have a delimna... Sony Zs screen is a big weak due to the internal stucture of the phone not being very sturdy. So I worry that that screen will crack or shatter. Have watched a bunch of videos on Youtube about this problem. So I am wondering what type of case is good for both heat dissipation and phone protection? Someone told me a hard case is good to add stucture to the phone, yet another told me that a soft case is good for impact. So I am kind of wondering what others think...

Mine wears a Case-Mate Tough when the going is likely to get rough. For ordinary day-to-day use I prefer a Barely There or a Spigen Ultra Capsule.

I'm not a big fan of flip covers so the screen is protected with a ZAGG InvisibleShield.

Thanks for your reply and information! A couple of follow up questions...

1. How about the heat dissapation issue?
2. What are the materials of each of these cases? I cannot tell by looking at the photo.

When you say the going is likely to get rough, what exactely do you mean? Do you hike, jog?

Is the Case Mate Tough bulky or? It seems like it is two pieces of cushion instead of just one piece like most of them.

Have you ever dropped your phone with any of these cases on? I suspect if you did it survived.. I am using an el-cheapo from Ebay right now, and I am quite worried although it does have grips which is a plus.

In addition you say you have a ZAGG InvisibleShield on the front glass, I was told by someone yesturday that the stickers are all alike, they provide no protection at from screen cracks, care to comment? I had considered to buy a Glas.t Slim until they said that...

The phone has never got hot enough to cause a problem, if that's any help?

The Case-Mate's are hard polycarbonate (plastic) shells, while the Spigen is coated TPU (a rubber-like soft plastic).

Backpacking and wilderness photography. It can get knocked about a bit.

It adds maybe 2mm to the depth of the phone; it sits in a soft rubber bumper that then fits into the hard shell.

Nothing short of shock-absorbing cases will be proof against screens cracking, as the commonest cause is dropping onto hard surfaces resulting in stress fractures. Screen protectors however guard against scratching by dirty hands and the lenses in my camera bag.

Thanks for that, useful.

I assume then that all three of these cases are shock-absorbing then? Or only the Case-Mate Tough?

So basically all screen protectors are just about the same.. I use a simple one... Not sure it could handle the type of things you do with yours, but I generally don't put my phone with keys and stuff like that, and if I do I will use the flip cover. I am not a big fan of them either, but it's cheaper than buying a $30 cover, they gave me two covers with the phone, and I believe they don't cost more than about $2 a piece...

The Spigen will absorb everyday bumps due to the material, but the Tough is the only one designed for rough treatment. Even then it's probably not as protective as something like an Otterbox Defender, but it fits my needs.

They do the same job. I like the ZAGG because it'll take some abuse without tearing or scratching, and that's always a risk when I'm out and about.

Ok I see, thank you. It seems the Otterbox did not produce their cases for any Xperia products at all. Though I will say their case is quite nice. Unfortuantely though they don't make them.

The only reason I need that screen protector is for my pocket if I accidently put my phone with my keys or in my bag when I am out, but the screen protector I have on, might be enough. It's a no brand, but.. I don't know.. anyway thank you again..
