cd playback from HP dvd rom to samsung tab2

[Android Question]

How do I play cd's (or dvd's) from my hp dvd rom (model rm475e) to my samsung tab 2. I bought a multi-function galaxy OTG connection made for tab's and plugged the dvd drive into one of the USB ports on the connection. How do i engage the tab 2 to play the music? do I need to download an app or is there something in system settings (or elsewhere) I am missing? when I plug in the dvd drive, the disc spins but no music comes out of the tab 2 and no programs pop up like they do on my pc when i plug in the drive. will it only work on windows devices and not on androids? help!

I can't say for certain about yours, but many Android devices do not support USB peripherals like card readers, external hard drives, disc drives, mice, cameras, etc. Android phones and tablets are simply not designed to control devices over USB rather they are designed to act as a USB drive themselves when connected to a PC.
