You're analogy doesn't make sense.
Boost/CDMA 3G - 1x icons lay on the bottom of the status bar and GSM/Global 3G - 1x are at the top. Same icons, different position.

GSM icons are the style of the drawables...3G is 3G ...4GLTE is 4GLTE ...there are just different styles in non AOSP Roms ...so yeah your analogy is wrong.

I do have plans on making a dark theme, and in fact I have started on it - but I have so little free time these days that I can't guarantee when it will be finished.

You know something I find funny (on the subject of theming) is how much extraneous images and such are left over from previous android versions or unneeded images and code etc...(4G/LTE icons for 3G CDMA devices) I wonder if it serves a purpose or if developers/engineers for Android/OEM's are just complacent? I mean it could seriously slim down some system apps. (If its not necessary)

I've been thinking the same thing.

Did you know there are still leftover and unused gingerbread icons in framework - It doesn't make any sense. Don't get me wrong, Android has come a long way, and now most images are in code, which is much better for stability and speed. But stock Android always feels... unfinished (from a 'themers' perspective)
