Root [CDMA] bootlooping with s-off?

been s-off for about two months now, and it's been running fine, no unintended bootloops, mainly been using viper3d, and pacman for rom,

but for whatever reason now i'm bootlooping when trying to load either rom

if i remember correctly (i haven't tried fixing it for a week or so now since it's only used on wifi and generally doesn't leave home): starting from pacman with 1.50 hboot,
to stock ics with hboot 1.58 so i could have properly working mhl/hdmi and 3d,
to viper3d for usb otg (viper at this point worked fine without having to downgrade hboot),
then back to pacman with 1.50, then it starts bootlooping, both using a nandroid backup and a fresh install

currently my stock backup boots fine with 1.58 installed, but the other two bootloop even with hboot 1.50 and 1.50.50

not quite sure where to go from here, any other roms i should try out? i've tried others in the past but have mainly stick to these

while i quite like pacman, i mainly want a rom with fully working mhl/hdmi, and overclocked to the default 1512mhz, with usb otg being a plus

speaking generally, the evo 3d is a confusing mess of rom/firmware compability. ICS changed some critical mount moints, and some rom devs modified their roms to work with older hboots, some required you to update to new firmware.

ill let the 3d experts look more closely at your situation, but if your phone boots normally running a stock ICS backup with 1.58 hboot, sounds like a simple firmware/softare mismatch.

DS has a guide to compatability here that may help: http://androidforums.com/cdma-evo-3d-all-things-root/650310-compatible-roms-different-hboots.html

ad if you want to change out firmware,id suggest changing it all,so it all matches, rather than just swapping out bits and pieces. brian has downloads here: http://androidforums.com/cdma-evo-3...hboot-firmware-all-downloads.html#post5208921

good luck :)

thanks, along with a few threads at xda, i'd say that first one is one of my primary's since getting s-off :) (though i've read and used firmware's from the second in the past too)

tried out both 'mean rom' and 'clean rom', they both boot, and by using the kernel in this thread at xda:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1866375

it seems be doing what i want (overclocked, mhl still works, usb otg)

so after that i flashed the 2.17 firmware from the second thread, then installed the newest pacman from the thread here, and surprisingly it booted! (odd since i already tried that firmware package during the bootlooping pre-mean/clean, and it didn't work) oh well, whatever issue i was having seems to have cleared itself up :)

out of curiosity what's considered the best sense based rom currently that has everything working, and works with 1.50? (so i can jump between pacman and sense if need be)
