gapps is just an add-on package for CM7. Please follow the below link to learn more about installing CM7 on the Evo 3D:

there is no offical CM7 for the evo 3d just yet and it looks like they will skip cm7 and just go with cm9. Iam working on a stable un official cm7 but no eta. I love GB AOSP so once i get it all working i will post but till then, you are better off just waiting for CM9
