Yes, I am a noob. Let's just get that out of the way first.

However, with FIFA going on, the regular boot animation isn't even running, and we're stuck with a FIFA boot animation. To prevent myself for messing up my phone, I want to know how to get a custom boot animation and which location to go in. It's kind of confusing.

It goes right where the current bootanimations.zip file is. Rename that to .zipp or .zip.bak and copy the one you want to the same folder. (Make sure it's one that works - if you don't know how, read up on it, so you can look and make sure it ends, otherwise you'll end up watching the last couple of seconds of it until the sun engulfs the Earth. (I've downloaded a few of those. Everyone thinks he knows what he's doing, but some only think they do.)

if it is a flashable zip then you would install via recovery.

if it is just a packed zip you would do as rukbat said in above post. the location where the bootanimation.zip is stored in SYSTEM/MEDIA

Have you tried uninstalling the Motorola Boot Services update from the Play Store?

Never mind. I flashed a custom ROM instead and changed that boot animation. Thanks anyway.
