Hello people, I'm a noob with android and hope that you guys can help me with my problems regarding rooting and such. ANDROID>IOS

Well I have a gsm android phone and was wondering if there's any other way to root it than the adb method? I have the bootloader unlocked. My phone is with rogers if that helps.

Are you S-OFF or are you S-ON Unlocked?

If you're S-OFF, you can just go here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1230) and find any ROM that says it's compatible with Rogers and flash it.

If you're S-ON Unlocked, I would suggest you consider 1 of 2 things:

Do the downgrade and get full S-OFF: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1471246

Or get TWRP 2 Dumlock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1509748 It'll make it so you can flash any Rogers ROM without issue.

I don't get it, in both guides it says you need root access? I don't know how to root my phone in the first place :(

This is where terminology gets weird. If you're bootloader is unlocked, then you are 'rooted' , at least in a sense. I'm going to assume your bootloader says UNLOCKED at the top. Is that correct? What this means is that your bootloader will allow you to flash custom recoveries, which allow you to flash custom ROMs that give you root permissions in Android. But the whole process is called 'rooting'.

So, do you have a custom recovery installed? Either Clockwork Mod or TWRP?
