Root [CDMA] [Q] Camera is not working after ROM installed.

Alright, so first off I've had a few phones which I have rooted and modded to the extreme.

Saw that i had hboot 1.50 and *tear*, however I followed the directions to a T and unlocked the phone, installed recovery, and threw on some well known mods.

MeanROM
CleanROM
Virus ROM
etc etc

Anyway, in all of the ROMs the camera is distorted, and when you try to use 3d it comes out greenish pixelated and crashes. When you take a 2d picture you can't see what you're pointing at, but when you click it takes a picture but well...see attachment.

Now here's what i have tried:

Re-wiped ROMs several times.
Installed Stock Kernals, and every kernel I could find.
Used the Flash app, used adb reboot-bootloader and then booted into recovery to flash roms, and most recently I re-locked the phone and used the RUU updater and Unrooted and installed stock back on phone.

STILL having same problem with camera.

Now more recently I've relocked and reflashed stock back on.
The camera just started working again out of the blue, so obviously I couldn't go to sprint, and I decided ok I'm going to test the camera.

I unlocked the phone and left stock on. Reboot, checked the camera, it was fine.

Installed custom ROM and Kernel (I used Flash GUI or whatever needed to properly flash kernel)

Camera is broke again. Reflashed back to stock, and again, Camera is still broke. I'm thinking that it will magically start working again today as well.

So I'm wondering is it a hardware issue, or software issue? and any ideas on how to fix it?

(Yes, I dumped cache and davlik, 4-5 times after custom ROM installed)

Damn that is a bad picture, well seems like you did everything I would suggest, and especially since when you went back to stock it started working again, If you want to try one more thing, try a different camera app, give the Amaze camera a shot, or try another camera from the market for the heck of it and report back.

Ok so I am starting to think that it's just a coinencidence that the camera started working again, and that it stopped working after flash of custom ROM.

The earpiece speaker is a tad distorded (got it super cheap on ebay that way) and honestly who uses their phone as a phone anymore!? However, when I restarted the phone this morning because I saw someone said to restart the phone a few times and the camera may start to work. It wouldn't turn on, phone was off, screen was off. Wouldn't turn on, I had to pop the battery out and back in and then it booted. I really think that the earpiece speaker is distorted due to a hardware failure, hense the camera now failing, and the phone not booting up properly. I will try another camera app, but the front facing camera works, which again leads me to suspect hardware failure and the magic 20 I had wasn't magical and just coinencidence it started to work again.

I'm not totally a noob when it comes to rooting and modding, though I didn't read about having to flash the boot img in fastboot, and thought I bricked my phone. LOL.

So I've decided it's going back to the sprint store, my question is because it says relocked in the bootloader, are they going to give me a hard time? I relocked it and put stock back on, took all my mod programs off, and made it look like I run stock all the time, etc etc.

Market Camera software didn't work at all front or back camera. I will try the amaze camera IF sprint won't exchange/fix.

So I decided to go to the Sprint Store on my lunch and get my phone fixed, figured I could possibly rush the tech and they wouldn't notice it's relocked and not locked. Well I sign in and they're like 10-15 mins wait time. 55 mins of being #1 in the wait list I left. They had people working there sitting on the counters walking around doing nothing, playing on their phones. Called Sprint and explained everything, told them T-Mobile would always without issue send me a new phone overnight. He wouldn't do overnight, but I can live without camera until the weekend. Just so I don't have to deal with that nightmare again.

He informed me they'd bill me 35$ cause I don't have the insurance. I said no big deal, just don't make me go back there.

Well I would not pay the $35 if they give you a refurbished phone, if it is new in the box then you are good to go, if not tell them you are not paying the fee for a phone that should have a 1 year warranty.

Umm...you shouldn't have to pay anything for a warranty replacement, unless you don't send in your old device. But if $35 is fine with you to not deal with your repair center again, I can't blame you.

Out of curiosity, was it an actual Sprint repair center or was it a Sprint by So-and-so store?
