Root [CDMA] System updates for a rooted HTC EVO 3D

Sorry if this has been asked or if post in the wrong place. My Evo is rooted and I want to get the system updated. How do I do this? I'm very new to all of this and not sure what to do. Thanks for any help.

You have to find out what version HBOOT you have, first. If you turn off the phone (make sure settings > power > fast boot is unchecked) or pull out the battery. Then hold Volume down + power buttons. A white screen appears with some read outs. Near the top it'll say HBOOT and then give a version number. Like 1.40.0000 or 1.50.0000, etc Can you tell us what hboot you have?

My HBOOT is 1.50.0000

Ok. You need to download the 2.17.651.5 RUU. You can find that RUU in this thread: http://androidforums.com/evo-3d-all-things-root/495121-htc-evo-3d-all-things-root-guide.html

The RUU will wipe your device, so make sure to back up everything in Titanium Backup. Run the RUU (it's a windows file) while having your phone connected to your computer. It should be a fairly straightforward thing to do. After that, you'll have to re-unlock your phone using your unlock_code.bin file that you used to root your phone and then flash the ROM you want to use.

If you get confused or lost, I do have a guide that is meant for people who are rooting for their first time. But you should find it useful if you get stuck somewhere in the process. You can find that here: http://androidforums.com/evo-3d-all...oms-kernels-using-fastboot-updated-3-7-a.html

Yes, you'll have to re-unlock your phone. But you will only need to flash the unlock_code.bin file. You won't need to get the token code and email it, or any of that.
