Root [CDMA] Warranty Issue

Okay so i have run into a small problem with my 3VO's screen, where a small portion of the bottom of the screen about 1/2" is unresponsive. Does anyone else have this problem recently?

I plan on taking my phone back to rogers to see what they can do for me. I am currently S-Off using revolutionary and i have deleted a lot of bloat and such of my phone as well as heavy theming.

I was planning on just making a Nandroid backup and taking my phone to them, if they straight up replace it with not questions then im golden. However if they want to send it in i figure ill have to bring the phone home and S-On it and flash the stock rom and such.

Now do you guys think this is a reasonable idea? if they do give me a new phone just like that can i flash my nandroid backup onto that so i dont have to redo all my work, (after i do S-off of course).

Any other thoughts?

What happens if they do want to send in my phone. Can i get it completely back to stock? or will the bootloader say relocked or something like that? and will they notice if it does say that.

While I have moved a NANDroid from a tablet to a replacement tablet, I'm iffy if you can do that on a phone. Your wifi keys would be different. Your service details would be different. So I'd recommend you make the backup with TWRP and make 2 backups. One is a full backup and another that is only backup the /data partition (after a dalvik wipe). If you get a new phone, just reflash your ROM and kernel, reboot, then go back into recovery and flash your /data partition.

But, very likely, you'll get the 1.50 HBoot when you get the device back, so S-OFF won't be an option. I'd recommend that, if they are going to service it directly, that you tell them to NOT update it.

Sprint services devices that have been rooted. Or so they claim. Would it hurt to flash the stock ROM and S-ON? No, because you have a NANDroid.

Okay so the problem seems to be permanent now. I dont care about my nandroids or anything like that. at this point i just want a backup of all my contacts and to get a new phone. whats the easiest way of doing that? Ill make a titanium backup of a few of my apps and i already transfered all my photos, but all of that is just crap. If i lose my contacts ill kill myself.

People menu export contacts tovsdcard then when I get new phone people import contacts from sdcard

Your contacts should be automatically backed-up to gmail. Log into gmail and go to your contacts and it should show all of them...
