Took the plunge today and downgraded my hboot, and have to say it was easier than I expected, I think all the reading was scarier than the process, it feels good to be outta 1.5....but thanks to all who have helped me with my 1.5 Rom problems....

Glad you got it worked out, now you can have some fun :smokingsomb:

So I'm now trying out the mean ICS so far so good, can I still go back to others, like the zr3d gt, and can I use the rims that are running rooted 2.7 rooted roms, as long as its not stock ruu I won't loose my hboot right...

You can flash rims from 1.3 to ICS no boundarys, just don't become a flash junkie bc your phone may start acting funky. Make sure you make plenty of back ups

I bet I've flashed my phone over a hundred times since I got it and I don't have anything "funky" going on at all... Where did you hear that?

Btw, most of the newer roms are going to want the new firmware.

My phone acts funky. It's really temperamental with ICS ROMs (freezes, random app lockups/FCs, random reboots). Battery life isn't as good as it used to be and I've changed the battery out with a new one, no luck. Any Sense-based ROMs I run causes random reboots, including stock.

I'm curious if the official ICS update + firmware would fix it, as I took the VM firmware when it leaked. Even though I've gone back via the various patches and I suspected the 'funkyness' was there before, I wonder if a RUU wouldn't clear out my problems.

But I pre-ordered the Galaxy S3 and it should be shipping any day now, so I won't be able to test if the RUU will fix it as I plan to sell back my Evo 3D to Sprint to recoup some of the cost of upgrading.

I'll still hang out here and help out where I can. I just won't be able to test stuff on my phone :p

I'm about due for an upgrade, and when I had to get the EVO 3D it sucked coming from my EVO 4G... Witch phone do u think is better the new EVO 4g LTE or the galaxy s 3, I'm just curious how samsungs phones are....

They are 2 different phones, it will be something you will have to research, and depends on what your needs are and what you prefer. You will get opinions but they will be based on their needs and likes, they are both affective phones, and you will be happy with either one. And of course one big difference is one has Sense, so if you are a Sense man then you will not have that with Samsung, even though there are many apps and widgets out there that replicate Sense, they still are not sense. I will troll the forums for both phones and instead of asking for opinions, I will check the treads to see the issues and the good of both phones and then make a decision based on that and your current needs. A great example, I live 20 minutes south of you and I have no issues with my 3VO and yet you have signal issues, so it is hard to say. ;)

I agree with Don, it really is a matter of prospective. However, I will tell you my thought process to see if it helps your thought process:

I was quite divided over LTEvo vs GS3. As I was over 3vo and GS2 last year. The only thing I liked about the LTEvo over the GS3 was the screen and Sense is a bit more better looking. Everything else on the GS3 seemed on par or better. For example:

USB On the go: The GS3 is the first phone I've ever heard of that you can plug in a full sized HDD or a USB hub and be able to use storage, USB keyboards/mice on it. All other phones use bluetooth. The GS3 can even stream audio through it's USB port and I think that'll be huge once manufacturers start making those radio boxes that the iPhone has. This is my primary reason for breaking to the GS3. I want to be able to stream music over USB.

SmartStay: I would use this feature often. Keeps the screen on if it detects you're looking at it.

Fully unlocked bootloader: I dislike HTC dev and it's enough to make me appreciate a bootloader that isn't crippled.

A few other things, too, but they're not major points and wouldn't be used often. Kinda like 3D.

As far ad my signal issue goes, its only bad inside a resteraunt, store, but outside or in my house or at work I'm great with 3/4g no problems... But I do like the sound of the usb deal, streaming over bt to my radio sucks in quality, and an already unlocked bootloader is awesome.. as far as sense goes I honestly couldn't tell the difference of what is or isn't sense, I just want a fast and snappy phone, I mainly mess with pics, movies, and music, don't really play games on the phone, as long as the net cones across close to a desktop I'm happy, the camera in the 3vo stinks... Thanks for your input...
