Root [CDMA] YESS!! I got a new 3vo with 1.3 hboot!

Whats happenin folks!! :)

I just picked up a 3vo because the wifes Hero is finally dead. :( Yeah the day before they announce the Galaxy Nexus. :rolleyes:

I just checked out the Hboot and it's 1.3. I was really glad it wasn't 1.5. :D

Now once I get the darn thing away from my wife, I can swap the numbers and get my root on with this thing!! :p

I'm sure I'll have some questions if I can't find the answers. As always any info is appreciated. :)
 
samething happened to me. I have HBOOT 1.4 and I just got it 2 weeks ago. I was almost wondering if it was a referb, but it's brand new.
 
You lucked out, great news, make sure she does not take any OTA updates without you knowing :p Now as I see it you are going to give her your EVO and take her 3VO ?? smart if that is the case. Let us know when your ready for your root funk!!!! ;)

I don't think anything happened to you. The store I go to does a fair amount of business, but not like a city corporate store. They've had this stock of 3vos since August or thereabouts, according to the rep.

The store you got yours from probably does more volume of business, hence the newer hboot. :)

If I can get all of my work done early enough tonight, its on like Kong! :D

I already have revolutionary the drivers and my beta key waiting. ;)

And I did warn her about the perils of updating....she had no clue what I was talking about, so I shut the update checks off. :)
 
I just got lucky with this as well. I am attempting to root, but when I attempt the "fasboot flash recovery recovery.img I am getting the error message : FAILED(remote: signature verify fail).
Any ideas?

If I missed the thread that had the answer I apologize.

Yes. You need to go to Revolutionary, download the drivers and read the info from there. Once you get S-OFF, then you can flash recoveries :p

And Granite, I think I edited my post while you were replying. For those who are curious what I said, I said sometimes it's hard to copy the beta key for revolutionary. I had to copy my beta key from the webpage to notepad and then paste it in the CMD window. It also took me 3 tries to get the program to recognize my beta key. I now use Notepad++ instead of notepad, but regular ol' windows notepad will be just fine.
 
Ok, well now I got S-Off but it says
witing recovery....FAILED (remote: not allowed)
finished. total time: 1.560s.
 
Lots of people were getting the Failed flash on the recovery .
You can either use the Fastboot method or just run revolutionary again.

usually sticks the second or third time.
 
Thanks guys, this one worked. I was able to flash it just fine. Big thanks to TeamWin and Jerofld. You guys made my year.
 
Jw you guys were talking about copying in notepad then pasting. Why not just copy and then click top left corner of command window and select edit then paste? Worked for me on 3 3vos and 4og.

I think I did try that when I did mine back in August, but for some reason it didn't work. I copied to notepad to make sure I had all the characters (It was easier to read for me) and then copied it to the command prompt.
 
congrats, I got mine about a month ago...the girl in the radio shack store was flirting and i didnt pay attention and let her activate and update it in the store, which gave me hboot 2.18 :( ....long story short....called back into radioshack in the morning, talked to manager and honestly explained my situation. ten minutes later, i'm at the store, he gives me a fresh one out the back and i root it right there on radioshack's counter. loving my 3vo

id recommend TWRP with CleanROM Reborn
 
Alrighty so, I am S-Off, Rooted, backed up and I flashed a stock rom that is "up to date" but I still have the "system update available" icon at the top of my phone. How do I get rid of that?

I thought I looked up the right one, but could anyone point me to the most up to date firmware, just stock for now? Radios included.

It's real easy. You have one of two choices:

1) Go to Settings > System Updates > HTC Software Update > Uncheck schedule updates then reboot

2) If you have Titanium Backup or MyBackup, freeze the app called "Updater".
 
Got my root with Revolutionary, but it failed to flash CWM. No worries, I'll flash from hboot. :)

Now where to begin with roms? :D
 
Sometimes CWM takes a few to take, if you watch the video, I believe he explains it in there. Glad you got your root, now get your Rom Booty going, LOL looking forward to see what you will end up with. :D
