Help Cell standby and phone idle

I was checking my battery usage and noticed two things using a good portion of the battery, cell standby and phone idle. I was curious as to what function those two are related to and if I can turn off something to minimize the battery drain.

Cell standby, there is nothing much you can do as this is the antennae staying active looking for calls/sms. NOw if you're rooted, there may be some options but not sure. I have not rooted my phone.

Phone idle, not sure on this one.
