Cell standby killing battery

Jeremyjay23

Lurker
Hey everyone, was wondering if anyone else was having this problem with the note 5? I picked mine up yesterday and let it die to 0% battery then fully charged it. The battery was dying fast with minimal use so I looked at the battery usage and cell standby was on the tip of the list. Anyone know why this is or how to fix it? I'm ready to return this phone I'm so frustrated. Thanks

Hit the cell standby line and see how much "time without a signal". I dropped my time without a signal significantly with a new SIM card install. Good luck.

Seth is correct, go into settings --> Connections --> Mobile Networks --> Mobile Data and for ATT at least its called Enhanced 4G LTE services. Turning that off resolved the issue for me, I dont even see cell standbye anymore.

No I have full 4g lte. . I'm also connected to WiFi all day that's really fast .. not sure what's going on

If I was in a bad area I would have had the same problem with my note 3 that I upgraded from

Well,in the absence of any other suggestions, perhaps a cache partition wipe will do the trick:

If the phone is not working correctly, you may need to clear the cache partition.Unlike a master reset, wiping the cache partition does not delete your personal data.

To wipe the cache partition, follow these steps:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the Samsung Galaxy Note5 logo screen displays, release only the Power key
  4. When the Android logo displays, release the Volume Up and the Home key ('Installing system update' will show for about 30 - 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  5. Press the Volume down key several timeskey to highlight 'wipe cache partition.'
  6. Press the Power key to select.
  7. When the wipe cache partition is complete, 'Reboot system now' is highlighted.
  8. Press the Power key to restart the device.

So is no one else having cell standby at the top of there battery usage list? I haven't been able to find anything online and Verizon doesn't know how to fix it. This is getting beyond annoying.

How long is your phone lasting with normal use?
Basically, are you making it through the day before having to charge up?
