Help cellular antenna off/on

is there a way to turn on & off the cellular (3g) antenna like you can do on a blackberry? ie without turning off the handset completely?

thanks.

I don't recall who makes the nexus s... I think HTC. But, 2.2 and higher has a way to turn off 'mobile data', which shuts down the antenna, but leaves everything else (wifi, gps, bluetooth) on. The other option is to put your phone into 'airplane' mode, which shuts all of your radios off.

I know with Touchwhiz, the mobile data is on the drop down menu in notifications. and airplane is (if it's not in notifications, or by holding down the power button) in settings> wireless networks. There are also widgets that will do the same thing on market.

I'm not quite sure whether its data reception/transmission you want to turn off or 3G, so here it goes for either.
1. turn data off - go to settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > and remove tick next to 'Data enabled and Data roaming.
2. turn off 3G > same steps as above but without removal of ticks for data and instead putting a tick in the box for 'Use only 2G networks ;)
