Central Delaware 4g??

Any Straight talk users in the Dover / Smyrna / Middletown area of Delaware? If so, do you have 4g/LTE service?

I am currently with Virgin, and they only have 3g, and no real date for upgrading to 4g so I am looking to switch to someone who does have 4g in my area.

Thanks

You can get Straight Talk with AT&T towers or Verizon towers, so you could check their coverage maps to see if either has 4G in your area. Then buy the corresponding phone.

I've read in other posts you can't BYOD a 4G Verizon phone, so the AT&T option might be better.

Thanks Kate,

It looks like AT&T has 4g coverage in my area. Now I need to check out AT&T phones. I hope they have SIII's or SIV'S.

Check t mobile coverage as well. One or the other will have you covered.

And you can then bring over any 4g gsm phone, I recommend any of t mobiles new lte phones because they have all the frequencies for both att and t mobile. Most att phones have the t mobile frequencies locked out.

Thank you for the info, I took a look at T-Mobile's map, they don't have 4g in my area, so looks like AT&T is the answer.

Question, you said T-Mobile has AT&T freqs on their phones as well as their own freqs, does this mean they can use either networks towers?
Is it user selectable?

Thank you

Yes it means they can use either networks towers, however to use att towers you need to get a straight talk att sim, it will be blue in color, to use t mobile you would order a straigth talk t mobile sim, it will be pinkish in color.
once you have the sim card you put that in, update the apn, and you should be set. You can not choose to run on t mobile towers after you get the att sim though, you would then need to get a t mobile sim.

Oh and one other thing if you plan on using a straight talk att sim in the newer t mobile lte phone you will need to make sure it is not sim locked to t mobile, if you buy it new just ask them for the unlock code, if you buy it used you may find the sim unlock instructions online (depending on the phone) or worst case you would need to pay a unlock service. they are generally low priced.

Thank You New Optimus,

It looks like a T-Mobile phone is the way to go, but with an AT&T sim card.

Just to clarify, say I did buy a T-Mobile phone popped an AT&T sim card in it and used it on AT&T's network, then I go on vacation somewhere where T-Mobile has better coverage, I can just swap the sim cards out do the apn update (I take it that is the profile and PRD, right?) then I can use t-Mobile towers?

Is that correct?

Thank you for all the information.

Yes you could, just put the different sim in and go, the apn is not profile though, gsm is a bit different, here is an example of straight talk t mobile sim apn

Also it would really not usually be needed to change from the att sim, because almost everywhere t mobile will have good coverage att does too.
They may not always have as fast of speeds but they do have great coverage.

Cool, thanks for the help.

Now, all I have to do is decide on what phone to get, that should be easy...
