For those fans of this well known Chinese supplier of tablets and the like, you might be interested in these excerpts their warranty terms and conditions....

Tablet Warranty Policy

Please read carefully and make sure you understand our tablet company policy. The following applies to the Flytouch 2, Flytouch 3, Flytouch 4, iBex and Facepad Models.

so the FT5 isn't covered in these T&C's then!

Warranty

China Grabber offers a 1 year warranty on all models. The warranty covers issues which include the motherboard, touch screen, and malfunctioning buttons.

so it is covered then???...and what about functioning buttons? Are they covered? how about a malfunctioning motherboard then?

The warranty DOES NOT cover:

Firmware and software-

If you flash the device with a firmware not recommended by us or the manufacturer the warranty will be completely voided.

so make sure you have permission in writing before attempting any firmware flash or else they could refuse to repair it and charge you postage to return it to you.

Physical Damage-

If the unit is dropped, scratched, modified, or has liquid damage the warranty will be voided.

Removal of identification stickers, QC stickers will void the Warranty

Fairly normal T&C's, but do note them before opening the FT up - even if told to do it on the forum....it doesn't say 'unless instructed to do so' in the T&C's

Accessories

Batteries, cases, and headsets are covered by a 3 month warranty from date of receipt.

Fairly standard again...although I can't see why a case has only 3 months warranty!! Also headsets must be pretty poor to only get a 3 month warranty.
Perhaps they are only 'clones'

Repairs

In some cases some units do arrive with issues and we may provide troubleshooting instructions. If it does not solve the issue then we will offer to repair it. .

oh do they?.. after going through quality control and testing before shipping some still arrive at their destination 'with issues'.

Replacements

Units that are DOA will be replaced if notified within 5 days of receipt date.

After all troubleshooting steps have been taken then we may offer to replace the defective unit. This will have through go through customer service and be approved by a supervisor.

Customer will be responsible for a $30 fee for replacements.

*Shipping cost for all repairs and replacements must be paid by the customer.

$30 !!! if you send it back to China (at your own expense) because it is faulty, and they decide to replace it rather than repair it they charge you another $30 for the privilege PLUS the return shipping fee....stroll-on! (thats what it says)

All this after paying ~$30 over the odds for the tablet in the first place.

$119 + $20 shipping - techtoys2go

$168 shipped -chinagrabber

Make your own mind up.

Dart16 the top standard USB port is the OGT port. The way I figured this out was it is the only port that will communicate with my main computer. I can read both the internal and external SD cards. If we could communicate with the data chip we could root this thing. What we are missing is the USB driver and software to do it. The lower standard USB port in the normal port. I have an USB hub plugged into this port with a mouse, USB flash drive and a keyboard plugged in and everything works. The Flytouch 6 has no mini USB port both ports are the standard type.

I did notice that CG label both USB ports as OTG, but both ports are type A sockets and I thought OTG USB used the mini or micro connectors??? I am possibly wrong there but that is how I understood it to be. I also note some FT5/6 sellers/manufacturers quote one standard USB and one OTG port!!!! Probably just errors on the part of the sellers advertising but.......

OTG just means the port can be both master and slave as opposed to the port being master and the device being slave in standard USB.

I would think Furball is correct is he can see the pad on his PC.
