Help Chances for Bricking!

Hello!
I am using hp 7 voicetab!
It is running andriid 4.4.2 kitkat!
I want to root it to install xposed installer!
I don't want to flash any custom rom or anything!
So are they any chances for bricking?

I once rooted My HP 7 voicetab and then an update came for the OS, when I put it in the update it failed and my phone got bricked so can you tell me the reason for it?
My tablet then got replaced so should i root again?

The thing is that you should never accept updates on a rooted device (the ROM has been modified by rooting and the update package is designed for the unmodified ROM).
