Help Change carrier to Virgin Mobile

Simple nubile question here. I was looking to buy a used Note 3 and was wondering if it would be simple to change the provider to my current Virgin Mobile plan. I don't have a contact or SIM card.

If your in the UK it is simple. Buy an unlocked one and make sure it is unlocked before you part with any cash then just pop in your Virgin SIM card. Once done Virgin will send you two "configuration" text messages these allow you to send MMS and use mobile data on their network. Just follow the instructions and "save" them.

The only problem I can forsee is that there are three sizes of SIM card. The Old large one, a micro SIM about the size of a little finger nail and a "nano" SIM card that is tiny. The Note 3 (SM-N9005 the international and ergo UK version) takes a micro SIM card. If yours is the wrong size you'll have to contact Virgin for a new one to keep your number. They'll do it in store instantly, usually for free, as well as on line and over the phone. Their phone number in the UK is 0345 6000 789 and they can be found on line at

I'm not in the UK, I'm in the US. And as I said before I do not have a SIM card.

Then you need one of our American friends to help you. I do know a thing about the weird and not so wonderful (IMHO) world of CDMA phones and carriers, except the fact not being able to swap SIM cards on my phone would drive me furious - roaming prices are ridiculous in any country.

Virgin Mobile in the US is owned by Sprint...

yea, they're going to force you to buy another phone, bud. And I wouldn't put much stock in what they carry. Even if you meet the qualifications, they will actively refuse to unlock it for you because they are *expletive*s like that.
