Change CSC without root ?

I used to have a branded firmware (Three UK) so I downloaded the latest stock ROM (MH8) but the CSC remains on 3UK

Is there a way to change the CSC without rooting ? I already factory reset using the stock recovery ...

How did you flash a new ROM if you hadn't already rooted?

If you want to use Kies to update or update OTA you should stick with your stock ROM. If you want a custom ROM, you shouldn't use Kies or attempt to update OTA.

It's really one or the other.

I expect that he just did a manual update flashing a stock Rom via Odin, this can be done without rooting the device.....not sure about the answer to original question.

I'm not really a fan of Odin, so I tend use it to root a new phone and install a custom recovery then say goodbye until my next Samsung phone turns up.

I wasn't a great fan, until I mucked up a format of my s2 and found my sd card to be corrupt....you learn fast how great Odin is I still don't tend to use it that often though purely cos it's a hassle turning the laptop on. Otherwise I'll use it to root

Even when it does, we shall still have the issue with the eFuse. I am somewhat hazy on the details but my (limited) understanding is that it is a hardware feature that no amount of hacking will sidestep.

lotus49 is spot on I'm sorry to say. The problem is not with the hidden Samsung flash counter but with the new efuse based Knox security feature.

Unfortunately, the latest Samsung firmwares for the Galaxy S4 that have the locked bootloader and Knox security, are a one way ticket as you cannot flash an older firmware to unlock the bootloader or get rid of Knox.

Since Kies will not recognise your phone now that you have flashed a stock firmware for a CSC code other than your phone's original one, you will need to flash further updates manually using Odin until such time, hopefully, that the Knox situation can be cracked.
