Help Change default location of Sense UI Weather widget?

So I'm talking about the default clock/weather widget that is on the home screen...

Is it possible to make it so the widget shows weather info for a user-specified location? I was able to add an additional location once inside the HTC Weather app (by scrolling down), but I have had no luck finding anywhere to change the location that appears on the actual home screen.

It wouldn't be such a problem since it does correctly display my location (New York), but it is WAAAAYYYY off in terms of weather. For example, the widget is showing 72 degrees when it's actually 85. That's a HUGE difference and it's bothering me a lot.

I'm assuming it is pulling weather data from somewhere in upstate NY and not from NYC (where I am)? The manual entry I added is showing correct info, but it's very annoying having incorrect data showing up on the home screen and having to click into the widget and then scroll down to get the actual info.

Any ideas?

Have you tried pushing menu while in the weather app? From there you can add a locale, delete locales, and rearrange locales.

Yes, I have.

The problem is that I cannot remove/rearrange the default location that the phone finds.

When I go into the screen to rearrange the cities, it only shows the ones that I added manually and not the default location that is showing up on the actual widget.

You can try using another weather widget app. Try weather widget donate, beautiful widgets or weather forecast perhaps theirs is updated from a different location.

It jsut sucks to turn that off because it will affect all apps that use it. I.E. maps, search, Nav., Google Sky, I think you get the point.

Or what about when it names your city the wrong name?? I'm in Columbus, OH and it calls it 'columbus city'

annoying!

Remove the widget, install widget again, after you select the same widget it asks you to add city or use currentlocation, click add and pick NY,NY. Adding cities that are not found is my question??

Just wanted to say that I had this same issue with my HTC Hero. My weather was wrong all the time and nothing I could do would fix it. Well I googled the problem and this post helped me resolve it.

This drove me nuts for a while. I did what you guys wrote above, however, my htc incredible still thought I was living in ann arbor, while I moved to new york.

Couple things I did, that may or may not have done it.

1.

a. Log into your gmail or google account, and goto maps, and change your locations on the internet. Log out, and then log back in. Then go back into your incredible and pull up google maps and use the menu to find 'my location,' your sharing and gps should be on btw.

b. do an update on your phone for both software and roaming. Dial *228, then press 1, let the phone update, and reset. Then do it again, but press option 2, and let it update and reset.

2. remove the widget as mentioned above, then reapply it. Now my "current location" comes up as my town, and no longer Ann Arbor.

A lot of work and tinkering, i know, and my be overkill, but it worked for me.

Good luck.

THANK YOU! This was bloody driving me insane!!! This worked perfectly :D

I figured it out. On the weather widget there is a little orange dot by the city name. Tap it. It will pull up the My Cities menu. Find yours. once entered, select it. there ya go.
