Change in Battery Life (Yes, ANOTHER battery thread - please don't hate me!)

I hate to start yet ANOTHER battery thread, but I noticed that my 2 month-old DRM has been having much worse battery life than normal. After the first couple of days I was easily able to get through a whole day without recharging. But lately that has really changed. Here's my current battery info:

5h 5m 14s on battery
52% Android (WOW!)
10% Phone idle
10% Display
8% Cell standby
5% K-9 Mail
4% Dolphin Browser
3% com.motorola.contacts.data
2% CraigsNotifica
2% Call Control

Current battery power is at 57%. Something smells rotten in Denmark to me. At this rate my battery will be dead (or close to it) in another 5 hours.

I don't understand why the Android OS is using so much power; maybe someone can enlighten me to that? I'm not one to complain much, and until the last couple of days, my battery life has been stellar. I have made no real changes to my phone in the last couple of weeks, so I don't understand the sudden difference in battery life.

My Android OS is at 23% use, Wi-Fi is 33%, the rest is under 15%.

Have you tried re-booting your phone to see if these #'s change?

This just about how mine is getting... I have had this phone for only 3 weeks and its just getting slower and slower and battery life is getting worst and worst I am just going to wait till ICS (Hope the 4/4/12) To do a hard reset for the phone. If that doesn't work Im going to go back to my old LG env 2 till i look more into this or file a claim on the phone for a replacement. I hope this just nothing big I just hate not having my phone at the end of the day and it taking 6 hours to charge. It used to last almost two full days and my usage has not changed at all!

Yep, sure did. No difference so far. I am going to keep a little record of it, and make a few changes over the next few day and see if anything changes. There has to be a good reason why the Android OS is suckin' so many watts out of the battery; just need to figure out what it is.

Have you tried a deep discharge? As in let it completely go below 1% and shut down by itself, recharge fully w/o stops, power it on/off, then back on, plug it back into the charger for a full hour, power off then back on and see how it tracks and uses battery.

This method should not be done too frequest as it actually cuts down battery life but to do it once or twice is fine, as it allows the phone to calibrate and calculate battery usage better. When I did it, at 1% I had 2 hours of battery left, so go figure.

Now it's more linear. After 48 hours of light to medium use, I'm at about 50%+ of battery life left.

I did that when I first got the phone, but not since then. Maybe I will try that again over the weekend.
