Root Change Priority on Tower

prez1

Newbie
Hello,

When I had my Sprint account and a Windows phone, I was able to change my signal priority for receiving and sending on towers. I understand that setting the number too low is to be reserved for first responders.

Is there such a thing for Boost/Android? If so, how would you do it for the Marquee?

Thank you! :D

I have a hard time believing a service provider would allow user end control of tower connection priority. Even if you could, I don't see why you would since everyone else would be doing the same thing. We're all #1

I think he is referring to the folks at the front of the line outside Best Buy at 3:00a on the morning after Thanksgiving.

LMAO!!! I was thinking along the lines of first responders in the emergency field. The first people called and on scene are called First Responders. Don't know if cell towers have a dedicated frequency/code for them or not. If they do, that's the last frequency I would want jammed up with trivial chit-chat. Just saying..........

No. 911 has their own towers and repeaters that operate on frequency outside of the civilian equipment spectrum. Police scanners can pick up these frequencies, but they can't broadcast on them. They typically mount this equipment on existing cell towers, but bridging 911 communications with domestic cellular traffic would be a disaster waiting to happen. That's just common sense.

I wasn't referring to 911 specifically but thanks for the info.

There is a setting, I don't remember where. I used to tweak it on my Optimus S and Hero that does make your phone make and receive calls faster because it gives you higher priority. And yes I think "1" was the setting and "0" was for Emergency/Government Agencies. I'll have to find the thread, it's on XDA somewhere.

I'm pretty sure it was in the build.prop. I'll find the thread and post it. It's old, but i'm sure it's still useful.
