Change Shutter Sound Programmatically

Hi,

I would just like to ask if there is a way to change the camera shutter sound programmatically.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
artsylar

pretty sure you might need a custom ROM for that, I don't think it's really worth flashing and rooting your phone to change a shutter sound, mind you some phones might have an option but the ones I've come across I'm pretty sure you can't.

anyway hope it helps

My Incredible turns off the shutter sound when the phone is put into ring silent mode. Not ideal, but it works.

Nope.

You just need a camera app that allows silent shutter sound.

Found out that there is really no API for doing that. Although I know there are some manufacturers who support it by customizing the platform. Thank you for your replies.

You might find a suitable non-root solution in this newer thread over in the Motorola Photon 4G Subforum.

One application in particular may work, its called SilentSnap. See that thread ^ for a link (Although the reviews for it are very hit and miss)

---edit---
If you are looking to customize the sound file or remove the sound, you can modify the sound file via adb shell once you have root access.
