Help Change Suggested Apps upon Headphone Plug-in

Nodine

Lurker
Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me with this. When I plug in my headphones in the pulldown menu it gives me a short list of suggested app icons, under the header "Earphones". It seems to be most often used apps when headphones plugged in, and up until recently that seemed to work just fine. The thing is it's now filled up with apps that don't even play sound or that I never ever intentionally used with headphones, like my alarm clock, text messaging, and a game that I have all sounds turned off on. I've tried opening and using the music apps I do use, repeatedly, but they haven't replaced these useless ones. This definitely isn't a "most recently used" list. I'm assuming over time they eventually will fall off, but I am hoping there's a way to delete these from the list manually, as it's annoying as heck. I have a Samsung, I can't remember what it was marketed as, but my phone data says it's model #SM-G730V, and I'm running Android version 4.4.2.

Hi there!

WOW, Android 4? Seriously? You may find that many apps won't play well with it, as they have been updated for Android 9 nowadays...

I can suggest two things: go to Settings - Apps, then into the app for your headphones and Storage. Delete the cache.

If that fails, uninstall the app, reboot and reinstall it.

Try those and let us know how it goes.
