This is great news - let's hope that EVERY OEM does this.

As far as I can see, the restore images for the X and Maxx are already posted, with restore instructions.

I know that the old Motorola lost a lot of customers frustrated with support for older handsets. I wonder if they get some of those customers back when their updates come up again?

Excellent news... Kinda wish I had known this before because it might have pushed me to the dev version, but it bodes well for the future dev phones as well.

Moto is really working hard to improve their image. They've always made good hardware, but unlockable boot loaders, fast software updates and common sense warranties might just keep me as a customer for a while.

That may have been enough to get me to buy a developers instead of a custom phone. Glad to see they have decided to make more sense.
