Root Changing Boot Animation/Sound

I have a rooted Nexus One Build FRG83D

I was able to change boot animation via ADB
But wanted easier access but it didn't work when I tried the rooted method, (moving bootanimation.zip to the data/local folder)

Is it even possible with a N1? How about adding a start up sound can that be done?

Reason for this: using the R2D2 Droid Boot animation and want to use the sound that goes with it

Don't think anyone's got a boot sound working, at least on a "stock" ROM.

What customs ROMs allow it, cyanogen mod?

I was considering flashing that as there are some fancy upgrades that go with it.
