Root Changing Boot Animation

Not sure if anyone knows this but under

/system/media

you have 3 boot animations,

bootanimation.zip
bootanimation_virgin.zip
bootanimation_boost.zip

I renamed the bootanimation.zip to something else, and changed bootanimation_virgin.zip to just bootanimation.zip and rebooted now I have a virgin mobile boot animation instead of the lg one. I'm sure you could find different ones online and use those as well. You can do it for the shutdown as well. You have to be rooted for this to work.

Try androidbootanimation.com and look at theirs. From what I see you create 2 folders part0 and part1 then you create a desc.txt file and put the following in that file;

540 960 24
p 1 0 part0
p 0 0 part1

You will create seperate jpg images for the animation and name them in order; 000.jpg, 001.jpg and so on, and those will be placed in each folder. If you look at the virgin mobile animation that came with the volt you will see a still image in the part1 folder, so you can do a still for that or make a longer animation across both folders.
