Help changing default app

Hi, could anyone please tell me whether its possible to change your phones default app to another of your choice. I do not like the standard 'gallery' app on my nexus and which to use quickpic. How can I set this as the default. If I disable 'gallery' my camera no longer works?

Is there a workaround please?

Most apps that perform a function another app does will ask if you want to set as default first time you use it BUT you may have to delete the Gallery default from settings first, not sure. Settings > Apps > Gallery > Clear defaults.

I think it isn't possible to force the stock camera app to view the pictures in QuickPic.
