Apps Changing Displayed Text In an App / Firebug

No idea where to ask this...maybe a developer would know and use something like this for prototyping.

Think...firebug for firefox but for inside an app?
I want to change the text displayed on part of an app while it is running. Is there any tool that can do this? It doesn't have to affect the app in any way...just to visually look like it says something else.
It doesn't have to be interactive or persistent.

If not while running, is there any way for me to pre-set what text will be displayed inside a certain text field?

*I do not own the app or have access to the source code...this is purely for recreational purposes to show a friend*

No there is no equivalent of Firebug for an Android app.

You can however, programmatically change the value of a Text view on the app's GUI. For example, with an EditText component, simply call the method setText() to change the value at runtime.

Ok, what's your current level of knowledge regarding Android app development?
You will need to install Android Studio to develop your app.
Have you read the 'Read me first' post at the top of this forum?

Ah, I think I misread your OP. You want to do this on an app you already have? That's not going to be possible if you don't have the original source code. Sorry.
