Changing mem cards

Hey,

I've had a look at previous posts and when wanting to upgrade the mem card, you simply copy everything to your pc and then copy that to the card.

The problem im having is whenever i do that, any apps that i had stored on the card previously do not seem to be copied over properly.

Under the manage apps, it shows the app as being greyed out with a small sd symbol, and the full name of the app.

I have tried many times but still cannot figure out how to access these apps.

Any help would be appreciated, Cheers

Did you try downloading them again?

When I changed mine, I moved all apps from my sd card to the phone, then copied.

I would think moving apps to phone and then moving to new mem card would be your best option.
When you "move" an app to the men card, notice that part of it "stays" on the phone's mem.

If your PC don't show hidden files, there could be some files not copied.
'Show all files' is in the Explorer setting of the PC.

Hi all,
I'm trying again & one of the problems I'm having is I don't even know how to get back to this page if the computer gets shut down. Now here's my question. I bought a bigger SD card & I want to move everything on my phone to the computer & then back onto the new card. I don't know how to tell what's on the phone (LG Optimus P-509) & what's on the SD card. I don't what if anything is "hidden". Does anyone have the time or patience to explain it in dummy style. I am in a different time zone so if it seems like I'm not here pr checking it's just that I'm 10 hours ahead of CA time. I can plug it in & see all the files but I don't know what to look for or to do beyond that. Any & all help would be appreciated. I would like to finally get this changed out.
Thank you 1 & all

1. Turn USB connection, which I assume you’ve already done.
2. On your PC file explorer, locate the SD card, showing as a lettered drive.
3. Enable it to show hidden files.
4. Create a new folder, anywhere on your C: drive.
5. Select all the SD files and copy them to that folder.
6. Unmount the SD, insert the new SD and mount it.
7. Select all files from that C: folder and copy them to the new SD.
8. Disable USB connection and have a beer.

At least that’s how I did it...

Hidden files begin with a dot, for example '.myfile.txt'. By default they are not shown in Windows Explorer. You must enable 'Show hidden files' in the view properties. Google 'show hidden files' for more info or look in Windows Help.

Once you can see these hidden files, simply copy *everything* from the old SD card to the computer, then from the computer to the new card and you're good to go.

The phone's manual will explain about phone memory (aka internal) and SD card (aka external) memory.
