Help Changing message ringtone?

Go into Settings-Sound Settings-Notification ringtone and select which one you would like as default.

Download the song to your sd card and open your music player-find the song-open the settings in your music player and there will be an option to set as ringtone. Then follow the direction above to set it as your default.:)

Opened my music player and found my song, "Rack City." what do you mean open the settings in my music player?

I downloaded "Rack City.", and went to my Music Player, found the song. What do I do next?

Hit the bottom left button on your phone and there is an option to set as ringtone. This will allow it to appear when you go into the other menu to select your default ringtone.
 
Click "Rings"? and then "Make Ringtone"? This only make's it the ringtone for when people call me.

The bottom left button is the 'back' button...

Most stock music players have the option to "set ringtone". Did you check to see if the song is available to set as notification also?
Is your phone rooted or no?
Even easier if it is:)
 
Don't think you need root. Use a file explorer. I use Astro. In file explorer, add a new file/folder on sd card called Notifications. Move the song you want there. Now....Open your messaging app. (I am using the native one on my phone, but Handcent works pretty much same way....)

Once app is opened, tap "menu" button. Tap "settings". Tap "notifications". Scroll to ringtones. The song you added should now be there.

Let me know if it works!

Am I supposed to download it on my phone? Because I did, and made a new folder. Idk how to drag the song in there.

Rooted? No?

I can set it as 'Ringtone' but that only make's it for when people call me. Not a text message.
 
Ok. You made a folder (using your file manager) on your sd card.

Now....open file manager. Scroll to the folder called "Music". Open it. Find song you want. Long press it. You should get a dialogue box to move/copy/delete/rename/etc...


Tap "copy". While still in file manager, go up to the "Notifications" folder you created. Tap it. (Should be empty....) Tap "paste". You should see song copy. Now exit file manager. Go to messaging app, and follow my previous steps. Which file manager are you using?

I highly suggest Astro....
 
I'm using Astro.

I found out where my Ringtone for my text message is located. So I planned to copy the song and put it there. But my Music is on Muve Music, and I don't know how to get to it on Astro, it's not in "Music"
 
Where did you get the music from? If it is downloaded on phone, it is in one of your folders. If it is just a song you "stream", you have to download it first. The app Music Paradise has most songs.
 
I just read up on Muve Music. Nice feature! There should be a folder on sd card for music. May be called "download"/"Muve"/ anything....Either way, once you find that folder, follow steps to copy music to the "Notifications" folder.
 
Yeah it is nice. :p. I also just tried buying the song through Google Play, but I can't figure out how to download it.

I don't see it ANYWHERE, all I can find is the Cover of the song I bought in Google Play. :l

Will research it a bit more. Honestly I forgot about Muve being on your device. Its just a music player on the Score M. Will come up with a solution for you one way or the other:):thumbup:

Got it!

Downloaded a song from "EasyMp3Downloads" and put it in the Music folder, copied it in Astro, and put it where my Ringtone was before.
 
For others wondering, Muve Music is a service of carrier. It comes pre-installed. Unless phone is rooted, you can not get to the files. So, although you can download free mp3's, they aren't accessible in any other player than the Muve Music player.

By downloading an app that downloads mp3's directly to sd card (I used Music Junk, now use Music Paradise), you can find song via file manager, copy it to notification folder, open app you want to use the song for, and then choose it.

Ringdroid app enables you to cut a ringtone from song, to use as ringtone starting where you want....


"Sherry, Sherry baby....can you come out tonight?" Plays when my sister calls/texts... ;)
 
I have found that after adding sound files to any folder you have to reboot before they show up on the ringers menu.

To add custom notification tones:

If your Score is rooted you can put .mp3, .mid, or .ogg files in the /system/media/audio/notifications folder then reboot then they will show up in the notification ringtones menu. This worked fine for me. :)

Any song downloaded from muve can only be accessed from the muve music apk. There is no way to move or transfer any music downloaded from muve it can only be used in your muve apk.
Now that said if you downloaded from a third party apk or from the internet on your phone then the music is on your sdcard already don't forget to check your download folder or any folder a third party apk may have created.
