Charging but not showing

Hi, I've been using my Samsung gs5 for about a year now with no issues, but the other day I dropped it on a kitchen floor and the battery came out.
Since then there's been some issues, when it's turned off and the charger is plugged in it comes up with the yellow warning triangle with the exclamation mark in. (⚠) So when I turn it on with the charger in it says it has x% battery, and it isn't charging but that battery amount won't go down. If I then restart it shows the new battery amount as if it has been charging fine all along.
So I've come to the conclusion, my phone is charging, but the phone doesn't recognise it is charging and the battery percentage isn't changing.
(FYI when not charging the battery goes down fine..)
