Charge port bronken!

[Android Question]

A few weeks ago i broke my charge port. We bought a cleaner for the charge port to make sure it was broke! Now my mom has been charging my battery sense my port is broken. I heard theres this thing that you can hook up to your battery and just charge your battery instead of buying a new 300$ phone! Has anyone had this prombelem? What did you do What is them name of the thing that chargers your Battery? Does it auctually work? I have an android. How much does the thing cost? Please help me out! Thanks.

There are several solutions,all dependent upon the model of phone & w/o this information,a definitive solution isn't possible.

As KOLIO said, it is very difficult to answer your question without knowing the make and model of your phone. If your phone has a removable battery, which it sounds like it does, you can usually find battery chargers on ebay for a reasonable price. You have to pull the battery out of the phone and put it on the charger, so you can't use your phone while you recharge. In this case most people buy a 2nd battery and rotate them from the phone to the charger. In fact, many chargers on ebay come with another battery.

Alternatively, depending on your phone model, it may be possible to replace the charging port on your phone. Mine went bad on my Samsung Galaxy Nexus and I was able to buy a replacement port on ebay and make the repair in <20 minutes.

I also have a charging port with issue of whenever there is any slight movement while charging, the charging stops and you need to jiggle the cord to start charging again. Phone is a Note 1 AT&T. AT&T device center looked at phone and said the usb port was OK, but that I should use cables from walmart or amazon and not use car charger purchased from at&t store or samsung data cable that came with phone to charge. Took car charging cable back to at&t store and they put new car charging cable in and said port was bad, and phone 2 months out of warranty, so fork over $200 for a refurbished note 1. Where do I get a new charging port, can it be replaced witout special skills or tools, and what brand of cable should be used?
