Charger needed for Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000

Hi,

I have here in the US, a Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 purchased from India. The charger that came with it isn't rated to work at 110 V, and hence I am badly looking for a charger for this tablet that will work in the US.

I looked at some chargers on Amazon, but the users tell me they won't work with the N8000.

I've been in New York for the past 4 months or so and haven't been able to get my tablet to work here. I'd really appreciate if someone can point me to a functional charger.

Needless to say, the tablet doesn't charge using the USB port :(

Thanks!

Just use the data/sync USB cable that came with the Note 10.1 with any charger/adapter for a standard smartphone. Just make sure it's 2A. Otherwise, it'll be very slow charging.

I have chargers for the HTC One and the LG Optimus G Pro. Neither works -- it shows a charging time of about 20 hours, with an X on the battery.

Any ideas?

The chargers for those phones are 500mA (0.5A) I think. That's why you are seeing the 'x' on the battery indicator. It doesn't have enough (adequate) amperage to charge the Note at a fast rate. You will need to find a USB charger that is at least 2A.

Not saying 500mA won't charge it. It will, but at a very slow rate. And if you use the Note during this time, it really won't charge at all.

I'm using my Note 2 charger to charge my Note 10.1 without any problems. I even use the Note 10.1 charger to charge my Note 2. As long as the output is rated 5v 2A, you should be fine.

No charger regardless of Amperage will properly charger it because of the changed pin layout on Samsung devices. This has been discussed ata length in this forum as well.

Look for an original one on eBay or buy a special USB adapter that allows to charge it from ANY charger, even that with 500mA.

Actually using a 500mA will show an 'x' on the battery icon. I've used a 500mA charger and it works, but again at a very slow rate.

I don't think Samsung changed the 30-pin layout between the N8010 and the N8000. They share the same pin mappings. In fact the Galaxy Tab 2 uses the same mappings too.

The OP just needs to find a charger that has an output of 5v 2A and use the included data/sync cable that came with it. Again, I use a 5v 2A Galaxy Note 2 charger to charge my Note10.1. I also used my old Sony charger (500mA) which charged at a really slow rate. It works regardless.

You are wrong.

This adapter is the only way to have it charge without showing the X regardless of what Amperage the charger provides.

Please stop spreading incorrect information.

I had a Galaxy Tab P7500 and now a Note 10.1 and both had the same way of charging - only official charger works without showing the X if used without the adapter linked.

I can find 10 thread on this forum alone and 5 on XDA that discuss this at length.

Yeah, but it still charges even if there is an X on the battery. Which is what I am saying...

I have bought a couple of micro-usb to Samsung adapters on Amazon. They work well with a standard charger and micro-usb cable.

I have two different versions bought at different times from two different suppliers (can't remember which). Saves me having to carry my Samsung charger around.

I would recommend getting it from the Samsung site or something with samsungs name on it.

One way to phase out older tablets and discourage users from continuing to use them is to stop selling accessories except through third party suppliers, where they get mixed up with fakes made in third-rate factories in the world.

I bought the tablet in India, but I want to be able to use it in New York.

For something praparitary (lol I can't spell) I would only recommend getting something with the companies name on it. That way you are sure your getting the right thing that is made the right way.

That's why I like universal ports much better.
