Help Charging: "battery removed, phone turning off"

Charging: "battery removed, phone turning off"
LG Volt 4.4.2
When I plug into AC to charge, I get warning "battery removed, phone turning off". Repeatable results with different chargers.
Removed and replaced same battery, same results
Charging had been slow the last couple of weeks and discharge has been fast
Eleven month old phone (still under LG warranty)
Needs new battery or?

if you can replace it you should sounds like your battery is dying
