Help Charging Issue

I seem to have a charging issue with my Maxx. Both nights since I have got it I plugged it in over night. One night with phone off, one night with phone on. The indicator showed the phone was charging but the next morning I unplug and the phone is still at the same battery level as when I plugged it in. I have tried two different chargers with same results. Both these charges charge our other phones (Motorola and HTC) with no issue. I took the USB cable and plugged into computer at work and the phone charges but I have not been able to obtain a complete charge yet.

Also, when these charge does the indicator light stay green during charge? I notice as well sometimes it is solid and some time flashing during charge. I am used to the light being orange or red while charging and turning green when charged. Just wondering if I have a faulty battery or charger, or connection where teh charger plugs in the phone.

Since the chargers work with other phones, I would rule them out as the culprit. Sounds like the phone. Whether it's the battery itself, the charging circuit or the connection, sounds like a trip to the Verizon store is in your future.

Good luck,

Well, just got up and checked it. It is fully charged this AM. Wonder if I wasn't getting the cord fully plugged in?

I had the exact same thing happen with my Maxx just last night. Went to bed and plugged it in, and it showed 44% battery left. Woke up this morning, after having it on charge for 7+ hours and it still showed 44%. I took it off charge and now it's at 39%.

I'll try it again tonight and report back. I hope that it was something simple, like not having the cord plugged in properly, although it did indicate that it was taking a charge when I plugged it in, so....

Yeah, me to. Does anyone know if both USB slots in the wall charger actually charge? I ask cause the only thing I did different was move to the other USB slot and I have had full charge the next 2 nights. I am betting I just didn't get the plug fully set it. It is a very tight fit on my phone

I plugged my phone in after letting it go dead and I used a generic cable and usb wall charger and a bright white LED flashed at me. Tried a different one and got a solide white LED. Checked an hour later, no charge so I plugged into a motorola charger (not the one that came with it) and the charging light came on. Looks like the Maxx is picky on what charger you are using.

I'm having issues with charging this thing too. I have it plugged into my PC with the provided USB cable and it says it's charging, but the battery percentage on the phone has remained unchanged. The battery status states "Charging (USB)" and it's still at 10% when i plugged it in. I've tried this on multiple computers and the same thing. WTF MOTOROLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s. it charges fine with a $2 car charger off ebay. Go figure!!! Hopefully a system update can fix this. It's my first moto phone ever, so far I'm a bit dissappointed!

If it was dead, it is gonna take quite a while to charge on USB port. How long was it plugged in before you checked it? I did mine once from dead and it took like 5-6 hours to get to 50-60%. Remember, it is probably going to take over twice as long as you are used to charge the batteries we were used to.

No problem. One thing I didn't anticipate was the longer charging time. However this is what happened.

Took phone off charger at say 7:15am. Around 1pm or so it needed a charge so I plugged it in when it was around 10%. Plugged into the provided USB cable from the box directly to my work PCs laptop dock. The phone died around 4pm I think, I didn't notice cause I wasn't using it hoping it would hold a charge until I could get home where the adapter to plug into the wall was. I then plugged into my car charger and the bad boy started up again and charged on the way home. I get home, attempt to charge via the 2 home PC USB ports and again the phone died. I don't know if it's because it had an extremely weak charge as it was, but it died and I plugged into the wall and it turned on and started charging again.

Today I didn't give it as much use at work so it did okay and I brought the wall charger so it was good. I'm gonna give it another run on a USB port at work tomorrow and see what happens. It's crucial that I can charge it this way because I don't want to bring the charger to work everyday, and I was used to it because my Dinc would need juice by 10am daily. I know I can buy another charger, but right now the Dinc charger didn't seem to work either. We'll see how it goes, I dread having to "troubleshoot" with Verizon since the lady on the phone today didn't seem to know much. This is also because I deal with issues all day long at work and I would prefer the rest of my day to be issue free. I appreciate all the feedback.

Another thing that I know doesn't help is where my office is located. I live in RTP and the signal in our building is weak. The 4g starts right when I leave the parking lot, but I haven't been able to find it inside the building sadly. I actually turned it off today which helped.

But my main reason about posting this, is that I really like this phone. It's awesome, the shizznit whatever you want to say. I'm sure this will pull through eventually. All you need to do is engage their Twitter team when you have issues and they can help. I do the same for my company and it's a great service for customers!

I just got my Maxx, while the phone is off and charging there is an led charging light but while the phone is on ther is no led notification at all. Is that how all of them are?

My maxx is on all the time and I don't see any lite to indicate anything when it charges. Always charges fully tho overnite and I'm using a generic walmart charger FWIW as I like it bettter than the oem charger. Leaving that one plugged in worries me, just me, but it looks flimsy cheap.

Is there away to stop it from turning the screen back on after you turn it off when you start to charge it?

Your phone isn't really turning back ON after you turn the Maxx OFF and then plug the charger into it. What it's doing is letting you know that it now recognizes that it's now on charge, so it turns on a "sleep" screen, of sorts (not fully powering up) to let you know your present battery level and that it's now accepting a charge. After about 30 seconds, it shuts itself back off automatically.

Yup. Download Light Flow Lite from the Market. It's free and fully customizable. I highly recommend it.
