Not one for starting new threads, but,no mention of charging issues. Hopefully this is a rare occasion & can be merged into another thread.
Charging has become intermittent, as I discovered the other day when my GEAR ran out of juice for the first time. Had it plugged-in overnight, figured it was operator error, plugged-in following night & witnessed it charging. Good so far.
Fast-forward about five days & find it not charging again. Troubleshooting just as you would w/any other device turned up zilch. (RESET/Different cord/outlet/etc).

Got an RMA w/SAMSUNG, sending it in for servicing. Turnaround time is approximately 2 weeks. Will post upon return & will attempt to find out as much detail regarding the cause/solution.

Anyone else experience similar issues,or, hear/see posts from other sites?
If so, please link in this thread.

THX! :)

I don't know the Gear, but if the charging port is microUSB I've heard the same story many times, and we have many, many posts here with the same problem.

Cheap chintzy universal charging port doesn't last under normal use because it's cheap and chintzy. It's nice that all our devices can be charged by the same charger (I have a few LARGE cartons of cellphone chargers in my garage from years past, all different voltages and connectors), but a universal connector that didn't fall apart if you breathed on it would have been even nicer.

Oh, and guys, the next time you design a charger port, please remember that some of the dust floating around in the air is metallic, and shorts out teeny-tiny port contacts. 4-pole 3.5mm plugs (and you can design 2.5mm plugs just as easily) are a lot sturdier and a lot less prone to conductive dust.

Yes,Micro USB port on the charging pod, which has 5 spring-loaded prongs that make contact w/5 corresponding "dots" on the GEAR itself

This is my 2nd device in as many years I've RMA'ed for charging issues, the XYBOARD 10.1 being the 1st.

As w/the GEAR,nothing visible/physically apparent. Probably as you stated,a fragile design not requiring much more than a dust particle to bring the device to its knees.

Perhaps wireless charging will be on the next incarnation of the GEAR.

Sent the GEAR & charging pod out yesterday, should arrive @ the regional SAMSUNG facility sometime later today. If this rate of speed on delivery continues on the return leg, about a weeks worth of time should be shaved off the 2 week turnaround estimate.

I received my GEAR back from RMA/service on 12/21/13,w/six days of the eleven total being stranded due to weather before being received by SAMSUNG.

KUDOS to the repair team in PLANO,TX. :)

Turns out the camera went bad on mine. How this caused charging issues I haven't a clue, but,I'm not arguing w/success.

It's all moot for the time being anyway,as I've switched from a GEAR-ENABLED phone to the LG G2.
