Charging phone for first time

Hey, I just got the ZTE Grand X 5 inch from Cricket (I know it's a low level phone but I just use it for basic online and phone functions) and I'm charging it for the first time and noticing it is taking a really long time to charge. I previously had the ZTE Source from Cricket, which is basically the same phone just 4.5 inches instead of the 5 inches this phone has. Its been charging for 2 and a half hours at this point and I've only used it for about 30 minutes of that time and it is at 48% at this point. I even tried using my old Source's charger (which appears to be exactly the same) and it didn't improve the charge time. I even plugged the source in alongside the Grand to see the difference and while the Source has charged 15%, the Grand has went up 4%. The Grand X is even supposed to have the Quick Charge 1.0 and charge 40% faster while the Source didn't have that.

So my question is, does a phone generally take longer to charge the first time you charge it? I've never noticed that before but I suppose it's possible. Does this seem like a defective battery/phone and should I return it? Thanks in advance.

Ud best be carful voltage on a charger is best for ur fone if u don't wana fry ur battery best use a retail charger
LOL not the voltage of course but the current output.. ;)

Output is irrelevant, as it's the device itself that controls the input. If it's not supposed to draw 2A then it simply won't.
hmm my SGExpress2 (2100mAh bat.) charges 2.5h with stock (1A) charger and 1.5h with 2A 3rd party charger... there are also original samsung TAB chargers which give also ~2Amps out.. and my charger is EU-made, not that china crap :)

Most chargers supplied with cheaper prepaid handsets hardly work properly or are dangerous. my ZTE Merit from Net10's charger got red hot and started smelling like melting plastic, and was not charging the phone at all, just making it power on, off, on, off.

My Samsung Galaxy Precedent, also from Net10, had a bad charger out of the box. it kept making the phone show a notification 'unable to charge non-supported battery, see user manual' (even though the battery that was shipped with the phone was a Samsung battery) and i replaced the charger with the one from my BlackBerry Curve and it worked fine.

You mean where it says "Made in China" twice, just above the CE mark? ;) They don't make USB chargers in the EU, AFAIK...too expensive. I know what you mean though, it's made properly and to manufacturer's and CE specs, is not a cheap knock off, which are often unsafe.

Everything seems to be made in China...especially around this part of the world! :D ..I bought some books, clothes and shoes in the United Kingdom during the summer, most of them had a homecoming.
