Help Charging Phone From Computer USB Port

This question is slightly off topic. The LG Motion's power corder is in two parts. I realise that the wire portion unplugs from the plug portion so that the wire portion can be plugged into a computer's USB port to charge the phone.

My laptop, a MacBook Air, has only one USB port, so if I plugged the phone into that one USB port to charge, I would not be able to use, for example, the Superdrive, or any other item that plugs into the USB port.

What I am wondering is if anyone makes a widget that plugs into the computer's USB port and thereby allows the user to then plug several different devices into the widget at once to make better use of the computer's single USB port. It would be similar to a widget that one plugs into an electrical outlet to allow several items to be run out of one electrical outlet. I hope this makes sense. It is difficult to describe what I am thinking of.

Thanks.

You can use a hub as mentioned above, but it has to be a powered one (with its own external power supply) to allow for charging or powering devices plugged into it. Otherwise it will pass data only.
Also note that a standard USB 2.0 port does not have sufficient current available to charge the Motion at full rate, so it will slow-charge only. The USB port can only supply 500ma, fast charging requires a charger with a minimum 1A output.
