I recently had to go o n a trip and i have a dual universal serial bus car charger for my tablet (dragon touch) and my phone (htc evo shift 4g) and i plugged them both up to charge and find out they were not charging. Then i tried charging them separately and still no dice. Just got a brand new charging cable and that doesn't work either. I noticed that there was another dual charger for usb for my car and it said that one port is for phones and one for tablets and others...does that apply for all car chargers?

No, every dual charger is different. They should be labeled with the mA. Most smartphones need 1 amp, tablets may go up to 2 amps. Many chargers, especially car chargers will only output 500 mA (1/2 amp). Those 500mA chargers will be a very slow charge for a smartphone if at all... and won't juice a tablet especially if its doing anything at all.

Also, most car chargers have a small fuse in them somewhere. Its possible this fuse is blown or the charger burned out.
