Charging problems

[Android Question]

I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 2. At first I had problems with my phone charging but it stopped all of a sudden. Now whenever I charge my phone it makes a weird noise I've never heard before and it says the dock is connected. My phone never said that before.

Take a close look into the charging port with a good magnifying glass and a strong light. It sounds as if there's some dirt in there.
