charging problrm

Sir, on 8th November evening of this month, my tab's battery was very low and i continued using it without charging it and tomorrow morning when i woke up the tab was shut off. so when i tried to charge it, it showed a processing sign on the battery and then a charging sign and later it shuts again. i pressed power button but it won;t start so i started it by pressing power plus volume key and it switched on. after it is switched on, it shows a red 'X' sign on the battery icon and asks me to plug in charger even though it is already plugged it. and afterwards it shuts off again.
what should i do now?

Keep the phone off. Plug the charger in. Leave it charging at least 16 hours. Then turn it on and see if it works. If it doesn't, you could have discharged the battery far enough that it won't charge again. (Since resetting it is pretty expensive, the cheapest fix would be a new battery.)
