Upgraded to s4 but kept over heating so swapped it but that was bad too so got s5
Problem is it takes forever to charge
Took 6 hours overnight
3 say they cant exchange it as they already exchsnged my s4 twice but only had this s5 3 days
Woman told me to buy a new charger and if not have to send it off for repair

How long should it take to charge and should it charge while you are on it?

I did some charger test via app and said it was onky charging at 480

It shouldn't take long to charge it. I had a charging problem with my first s5, except it wouldn't charge at all.

The whole thing with you have already exchanged your device twice should only apply to insurance, the device manufacture warranty should have its own set of rules that do not limit how many times you get a new one if your device has a factory defect. Since I brought mine back the next day they marked mine as DOA and gave me a brand new phone right then and there (verizon)

If you are using the same app as I am to find what your charging level is at, mine currently is 650mA with a max of 1800.
( this is with an older charger, not the out of box charger)

The app I am using is Galaxy Charging Current *Lite

Heres some trouble shoot steps:
Try your charger on another phone, if that phone charges alright chances are the charger is not to blame
Try another charger, if that charger does no better, chances are it is something with the phone
Try a new battery, if it still does not charge like it should, chances are that again its something with the phone
Lastly try a factory reset, if all else fails this can undo anything you might have accidentally set.. chances are it will do nothing but it is a step none the less

if all those steps fail, then you should be able to rightfully claim you have a defective device

Mine says 440 with max of 450

The OEM Samsung charger is 2.1 amps.

You must have a good quality charger that can provide that amount of current.

You must also have a good quality charging cable. Not one of those el cheapo $1.99 things off fleabay/china.... I have a gob of those and none of them will charge the phone at more than 450 mA.

The OEM cable will charge at 1800 mA+ and bring the battery up from 10% to 100% in 90 minutes flat.
