The OP got the OSF, flashed an alternative ROM and is delighted with it.

)The HTC Droid Incredible is a great phone. It's one year old so the price without a contract is reasonable, found online at ~$200. The incredible is one of Verizon's best selling android phones and has one of the biggest communities/development scenes. It's incredibly powerful (so punny!) and even with a year under it's belt, can compete with many phones as far as hardware. Rumor also has it that it's going to get the Android OS 2.3 Update in the very near future.
I just replaced my 1-year old HTC Incredible with another Incredible! (I fell into the ocean with it in my pocket)
I think the UK version is the HTC Incredible S![]()
It was quite simple to flash my OSF. I followed the stickied guide in the OSF root section of this forum. I did have two minor problems. One was me missing a step and the other was the version of the root program not working (El Presidente gave me a link that worked).
This was flashing GEN1 Swedish Spring (Android 2. 2).
I need to pluck up the courage to upgrade to GEN2 and Android 2. 3.
Cool, thanks mate. Im quite new to Android so need something simple.
And sorry, one more question if I may? In your opinion, does the Wildfire S offer anything thats worth paying the extra for? Or even the Galaxy Ace for that matter?

After convincing my daughter to not get a Blackberry (What is it with kids and Blackberrys these days?) Im looking for a sub
As far as I'm aware, they don't offer much more than an OSF flashed with 2.2.
I can do some reading tomorrow if you like though.
Here are some comparisons courtesy of GSMArena:

To be fair I would have been happy with any of those devices. I was on a stricter budget than you so the OSF/ZTE Blade was the best choice for me.
The OSF/ZTE Blade has a great screen (480 x 800 vs 320 x 480 on the other devices), but has a poor camera (3.2MP vs 5MP on the other devices). For me camera quality wasn't high on my list of priorities.
I hope your daughter is chuffed to bits with whichever Android device she is lucky enough to receive. I know I am.![]()
Kids like BB at the moment cos of Blackberry Messaging. If all her friends have BBs then she wants one so she can be in with the BBM group. For
When you say poor camera? Presumably it is still usable in ok lighting? Its not totally terrible is it?
Youre right, thats exactly what it is. I suppose I cant understand how you can justify paying
I came from a Blackberry 8900. I miss the QWERTY keyboard of my BB (I'm still getting used to touch screen text/email - fat fingers ahoy!), but the sheer range of apps etc available to Android lured me away! Not regretting the decision yet. I didn't have a community of friends with messenger though (Billy-no-mates that I am!).
Well Ive just sat down with her and explained that I dont want to her to get an Android just cos I want her too, but she is adamant that she doesnt want a blackberry anymore. She knows about Live Profile and says she will get her Blackberry friends to download that, so she seems happy with that.
Im planning on using her existing O2 sim in it. If Im reflashing it, do I still need to unlock it? Or will reflashing do that anyway?

It depends on the ROM I think. Unlocking is free anyway: Free Instant Unlock Codes for Alcatel, Huawei Modems & ZTE Mobile Phones
Good on her for making her own decision too.![]()
Here would be a good place to start.
