Cheap USB cables. Data ok but not charge.

Official cable works OK - obviously. Connects phone to PC and also charges when connected via USB.

Bought a cheap cable off ebay. Works fine for transferring files and even though the charge symbol is on the phone it doesnt seem to charge.

Am I right in saying that its something like the cable isnt drawing enough powere or something?

At least data is working. I remember my old Iphone would never even work with cheap cables....

Possibly. I am guessing there are simply not enough copper wires in the cable to do the job.
