Root Check for Update not available

Hello,

I have a droid x, android version 2.2 stock, but rooted.

The system version is 2.3.15, and the kernel version is 2.6.32.9.

When I try to do the OTA update, I get "Check for update was not available at this time. Try again later"

I'm wondering if the fact that I have the phone rooted would cause this.

Does anyone have some suggestions about how to approach this? I would like to get the stock OTA update and root it later.

do you have any sys files removed/renamed/frozen...aka bloat?

yes, its been a while, but I think I did get rid of a few by renaming the file. I'll look to see if I did that.

I'd just SBF to the latest (602) and reroot. Check out the stickies in the root sections.

I would probably do what Col said as well.

but yeah if you renamed bloat that is why it isn't pulling any updates.

Thanks! I went to .602, then the OTA worked fine to bring me to .605 .

Just rooted it and life is good!

The SBF process detailed in the sticky is great! We are all indebted to the people who got all that working.
