Checking email

Hello,

I am a brand new Samsung Galaxy S5 owner. I had an Iphone 4s previously. I feel like I'm getting the hang of most things fairly quickly.

However there is one thing I can't figure out...

How do I change the settings on my phone so that my email isn't constantly checking for new emails? I want to be in control of when my email is checked...

Thanks!!

Hello and welcome to Android Forums, Kauai Dreaming. :)

(Are you dreaming of Kauai or dreaming in Kauai?)

If you are using the stock email app and have the account setup already, open the mail app. Then tap menu>settings and you should see your account (or a list of accounts if you have more than one setup). Tap on the account name and then go to sync settings>sync schedule and you can change it to how ever often you'd like it to check.

Where it says set sync schedule make sure it's on manual and it won't ever dowliad your mail unless you do it. That is how I like mine set up too. Mary

You can reach all the sync settings by swiping down with two fingers from the top of the screen (as you would do to open the notification center) and long press on the "Sync" toggle button. (the same options as the people above has explained but an easier way of accessing it) :)
